No Surprises Act

The No Surprises Act is a federal law that went into effect on January 1, 2022 designed to protect consumers from receiving unexpected medical bills. Under the law, health care providers are required to give consumers who aren’t insured or who aren’t planning on submitting a claim to their insurance a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much medical care will cost before they receive services.

For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website.
